Brandy Woody has been named to the Indiana All-Star team, becoming the fourth Western Boone Jr.-Sr. High School girl’s player to receive the honor.
“I started jumping up and down,” Woody said Friday after she learned she would be joining 13 other of Indiana’s best girl’s basketball players, in The Indianapolis Star’s annual home-and-home contests against Kentucky.
Then she ran out to her car to grab her cell phone so she could tell her parents.
Woody, a 5-foot, 7-inch guard, led the Lady Stars to an IHSAA Sectional championship this year; Western Boone lost to 3A No. 1 Rushville in the opening game of the Mount Vernon Regional.
She averaged 19.8 points; 9.1 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 3.6 steals per game in her senior year.
Woody, a life-long Boone County resident, began playing basketball as a third-grader at Thorntown Elementary School.
